[To Pat Buchanan: regarding "What still unites us?"] My reaction to this latest article is an unpleasant feeling of anger and frustration at the picture you paint and your seeming attack on the Declaration wording and ideology.
Neocons are ideological? I thought America was an idea. Something that bound us all together. Ideas like Love your neighbor, treat other as you want to be treated, help the helpless, protect the weak, and We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal and are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
These are ideals worth living for and, if need be, to die for. I think you should use more of your spectacular mind to find ways to unite us rather than pointing out why we are doomed to fail.
