(CNBC) — U.S. stocks closed sharply higher on Monday as traders saw geopolitical tensions easing.
The S&P 500 gained 0.99 percent, with financials, real estate and information technology leading all sectors higher. The index also posted for its best day since April 24, when it rose 1.08 percent.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 132 points, with Goldman Sachs, Apple and Visa contributing the most gains.
