How often do you give white supremacists a second thought?
The answer is likely, until very recently, none at all.
The reason for that is because they are politically, culturally and socially irrelevant. They represent an aberration from reality. They are social misfits. I don’t think they represent even 0.1 percent of Americans.
But the left loves them. I know this because they are obsessed with them. Let me give you an example.
Who pays attention to what David Duke says or does?
They like to check in with him to see who he’s voting for, as they did in 2016. The right doesn’t give him the time of day. He’s a nut, and everyone knows it. He’s a publicity hound, and he knows all he has to do to get media is to come out in support of a Republican candidate, which is what he did in 2016. The media swoon over him when he does their bidding. Never mind that Donald Trump wouldn’t give him the time of day. Why should he? Why does anyone pay attention to him?
The media pay attention to him because he’s news when he can be linked, no matter how tangentially, to anyone they don’t like – meaning all Republicans, all conservatives, anyone who is not politically correct.
I have always suspected, though I cannot prove it, that he is actually a paid surreptitious agent for the Democrats and the left. He could not serve their interests more if he were.
Likewise, looking back at the tragedy of Charlottesville last weekend, you can see the same paradigm at work.
A former supporter of Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and leftist causes obtained the permit for the “Unite the Right” rally that predictably brought together a collection of neo-Nazis, white supremacists, Klansmen and other ne’er-do-wells for a volatile confrontation with Black Lives Matter and Antifa types.
Do you really think this was an organic development?
Having been a leftist in my youthful days of indiscretion, I can tell you the change doesn’t come that quick. For this guy, Jason Kessler, it happened overnight – during the 2016 election.
Does anyone just accept that without a grain of salt?
From Barack Obama to white supremacist in the blink of an eye?
Pardon my crudity and vulgarity, but Charlottesville, violence, death, mayhem and injuries notwithstanding, was like an erotic dream come true for the left.
Overnight they are back on offense in a big way. Everyone is afraid to acknowledge what we saw with our own eyes in Charlottesville – two groups of low-life thugs beating on each other over whether a statue should come down. If you don’t say one side represented the heroes and the other the villains, then you are morally compromised.
That’s just not true. It’s not what happened. The cameras don’t lie.
There was no morality in that confrontation.
No one was right. Everyone was wrong.
It was the perfect storm of immorality, irresponsibility and villainy.
So, for the left, they need the white supremacists. They don’t want to argue over ideas. They want to make the argument over caricatures and stereotypes. It’s the only game they can win.
They need to portray themselves as Nazi-fighting heroes, even if they have to employ brownshirt tactics to get there.
I look at this national circus of disinformation in amazement.
Why doesn’t everyone see through this charade?
That’s what I keep asking myself.
Even most Republicans are afraid to say what they are thinking, what they know deep down in their hearts.
This is why the left loves the white supremacists. They need them. And they’re the only ones who need them – and use them to their advantage.
