(CNBC) — U.S. stocks closed narrowly mixed Tuesday as technology stocks recovered some of their losses.
The Dow Jones industrial average closed lower in its first four-day losing streak since June 23. McDonald's had the greatest negative impact on the index, while Apple had the greatest positive impact.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite was the best performer, rising about 0.15 percent.
