Pat Buchanan, you write: "Can the GOP establishment believe that if Trump falls, or they bring him down, they will inherit the estate and be welcomed home like the Prodigal Son? Do they believe their old agenda of open borders, amnesty, free trade globalism and democracy-crusading can become America's agenda again?"
I wish you were Trump's top adviser! You address situations like an ER doctor with an accident victim! Sad to say, but the swampers in the GOP really don't care about their party enjoying a majority. As long as some of the creatures can bask on the lilly pads on Capitol Hill, they are happy. They can croak about America's problems and decline, continue to sink us deeper into debt, send our youth to die in useless wars, confirm leftist judges and play second fiddle to the power-ravenous Democrats, the status quo is fine with them.
They think the rise of the "deplorables" is a temporary aberration. As the swamp slowly drains, we see the slimy critters hopping frantically about until they crawl off into the weeds to die. Or, in the cases of Corker and Flake, into the Tennessee hills and Arizona desert.
It should be Trump's party – and it will be!
