A San Diego abortion business that was the site of an abortionist’s “bizarre demonic rant” against a pro-life activist has been closed down by a chain of California clinics, according to Operation Rescue.

Operation Rescue’s Cheryl Sullenger said this week the Miramar Road site, which is part of the FPA Women’s Health chain, was closed Nov. 17.
It was abortionist Robert Santella who confronted pro-life activist Zephaniah Mel with a pair of surgical scissors, a rant that included hissing and growling, and a confession that he loved killing children.
“That behavior, along with complaints of malpractice and botched abortions, resulted in Santella’s firing from the abortion chain, which he had been affiliated with for over 30 years,” Sullenger said.
Santella was forced to surrender his medical license after the California Medical Board charged him with negligence and unprofessional conduct, she said.
Santella’s private office on College Avenue in San Diego, where he also conducted abortions, is also closed.
Operation Rescue said the now-closed FPA office had been the scene of several medical emergencies in the last few years, including when a mother accompanying her daughter for an abortion was forced to call an ambulance when the daughter started bleeding. FPA Women’s Health staff had refused to make the call.
The business has a checkered history, including an earlier eviction by a landlord because their building was being demolished.
“We are thankful that this abortion business has been once again forced to move, thanks to the prayers and action of pro-life activists, who have been so faithful on the sidewalks throughout the decades. When abortion businesses relocate, it usually results in a loss of business – which means babies’ lives are spared,” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue. “We pray the El Cajon FPA office shuts down soon and has nowhere to relocate.”
WND reported when controversy erupted over Santella’s rant.
“Stinky breath!” screamed Santella when the sidewalk counselor told him to repent, according to a video of the incident.
“That’s pretty evil of you,” the counselor responded.
Confronted with what he does to babies, Santella sneered: “I love it. I love it!”
In a separate version of the video, another pro-lifer at the scene described the abortionist’s demeanor as “demonic.”
A woman watching the video after it was posted online noticed the identification badge Santella was wearing and brought the encounter to the attention of Sharp Healthcare, a group of hospitals in San Diego County.
Allyson Smith posted to her Facebook page the email she sent to the company:
Hi there, I would like to bring this video to your attention. The crazed doctor in this video is Robert Santella, who performs abortions at Family Planning Associates on Miramar Road. You’ll notice he is wearing a Sharp Healthcare ID tag. A quick Internet search reveals that he is affiliated with Grossmont Hospital. Why is this “doctor” allowed to be affiliated with Grossmont Hospital? He is nuts and should be fired. What will you do about him? Thanks.
Grossmont Hospital replied to Smith’s email:
Thank you for your message. We appreciate your concerns regarding this physician, and we can assure you that he is no longer affiliated with any of our hospitals, he is not employed by our medical groups, and he does not practice or have admitting privileges at any of our facilities. We are currently looking into other aspects of this matter, and we will provide updates as we have more information.
