(DAILY MAIL) U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is recovering from five broken ribs following an assault at his home on Friday afternoon.
The congressman was mowing the lawn of his Kentucky home when he was allegedly attacked by his neighbor, 59-year-old Rene Albert Boucher.
Doug Stafford, a senior adviser to Paul, told The Associated Press that Paul had three displaced fractures and was in considerable pain. He also suffered small cuts to the nose and mouth and 'had trouble breathing.'
Boucher was arrested and charged with one count of fourth-degree assault of the Republican congressman following the assault. He was released Saturday night on a $7,500 bond, according to the Warren County Jail website.
