The morphing of Communist Party, CNN, Dems

By Joseph Farah

Tell me if it’s my imagination that the Communist Party USA, CNN, the New York Times and the Democratic Party are speaking from the same talking points.

This from the CPUSA this month:

The Trump administration is authoritarian, deeply corrupt, and replete with pathological liars. It is directly linked to the so-called “alt-right” – re-branded fascists and Nazis – including those who serve in the White House.

White supremacists, misogynists, climate deniers, xenophobes, Islamophobes, and militarists dominate the administration. Gen. Kelly’s recent attempt to revise Civil War history should dispel any illusions the public can rely on “rational generals” to restrain 45.

A mass base intoxicated with irrationality, lies, and conspiracy theories supports Trump and the GOP. They are being manipulated by an extensive right-wing communications infrastructure, including Fox News, Breitbart, Infowars, hate-talk radio, the NRA, right-wing Evangelicals, and think-tanks. Taken together, this has the potential to become a full-blown fascist movement. Are we reaching a point of no return?

Just to check my assumptions, I searched some of these key buzz terms: “Trump authoritarian,” “Trump deeply corrupt,” “Trump pathological liar,” “Trump alt-right,” “Trump fascist Nazi,” “Trump White supremacist,” “Trump misogynist,” etc. What did I find? I found the very same smear terms are employed by CNN, the Washington Post, Newsweek, the New York Tines and leading Democrats.

And, by the way, I don’t mean they have been used occasionally. I don’t mean they have been used sparingly. I mean these smear terms are employed on a daily basis by what we euphemistically call the “mainstream media” along with top leaders of the opposition party.

Try it for yourself.

My point?

Well, that the most inflammatory rhetoric of the extremist Communist Party, which evokes sympathy for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and terrorists throughout the Middle East, is in perfect synchronous harmony with the New York Times, CNN and Democratic Party leadership should be alarming, scary, creepy, horrifying and dangerous.

This is Trump Derangement Syndrome on steroids.

Remember who the Communist Party USA is. The official program of the party, once a wholly owned and controlled subsidiary of genocidal Josef Stalin’s Soviet Union, is this: “Socialism will usher in a new era in this country. The great wealth of the United States will for the first time be for the benefit of all the people.”

Very few Americans would identify with the Communist Party USA openly. The group only has about 3,000 members nationwide. Yet, the language of the major media and the Democratic Party has essentially morphed into the dialectic of the CPUSA without so much as even a tinge of self-consciousness or shame.

What conclusions can be drawn from these facts? One of two in my view:

  1. The Communist Party USA has moderated to the extent that is now completely aligned in agenda and rhetoric with the Democratic Party and the corporate Big Media.
  2. The worldview of Democratic Party and the corporate Big Media have become so extreme and twisted that it now represents nearly a perfect match of the Communist Party USA.

Am I wrong?

Is there a difference?

Or has the person and program of President Trump pushed the soft left and hard left together to the point that there is no longer any meaningful distinction?

And that raises the very question of long-term viability and sustainability for the Democratic Party and its friends and allies in the corporate Big Media.

That such crazy conspiracy theories and off-the-wall rhetoric could sustain a party of 3,000 is hardly surprising. But, how much longer can that kind of hatred fuel the major opposition party and the major media in the United States of America?
