(THE BLAZE) -- David Wright, anchor for ABC's “Nightline,” tried desperately to get country music star Dolly Parton to wade into politics during a recent interview, but the legendary musician was having none of it.
Discussing Parton’s acting role in the film “9 to 5” — which is the same name of a famous Parton song — Wright tried to sink Parton into a discussion about President Donald Trump’s alleged sexism. Wright played a clip from “9 to 5” where star Jane Fonda disparaged her sexist boss.
“The sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot portrayed so effectively in that movie by actor Dabney Coleman hasn’t exactly disappeared from the culture. We have a president of the United States who said the things on that bus,” Wright said, attempting to lure Parton.
