I think it is time to go back and re-read the New York Times and other news articles about the Columbine High School shootings in 1999. The activist kids are using Columbine as a reason to protest, and most of them were not even born when the event happened and have no idea what actually happened.
What should be said over and over is that everyone takes a child seriously if they complain of sexual child abuse, so everyone should also take a child seriously when they show signs of wanting to kill. The propane tanks, iron pipes, cigarette lighters, knives and firearms do not create the murderer.
The murderers of Columbine High School (shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold) were daily victims of harsh and brutal bullying, according to my co-worker who lived in Littleton (mostly Dylan was the daily target of teacher-condoned bullying). My co-worker also told me that a group of "well-to-do" families all from one local church always looked downward at anyone not of that church, and the parents only had children because it is the trendy thing to do – no differently than having pets – the "hired help" house servants actually raised their children (no joke), who had all the amenities of wealthy families and became the popular kids.

The football team enjoyed bullying the two murderers just short of hospitalization, knifing their bicycle tires, ripping up their textbooks, stealing any belongings. And the school principal, teachers, counselors just looked on with delight. But this was not the reason for them attempting to bomb the school with pipe bombs and propane tanks (hence guns are not in the initial picture). Eric was evidently a psychopath with a superiority complex and, with Dylan, started making pipe bombs together and planning the attack over a year prior. In that year of planning, they were showing many red flags of danger that were ignored by everyone, including the police.
Bottom line: Just like everyone takes a child seriously if they complain of sexual child abuse, everyone should take a child seriously when they show signs of wanting to kill.
