(Conservative Review) -- The man who made the Iran nuclear deal possible in the Senate, Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., says the information presented by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu detailing Iran’s nuclear weapons development is “nothing new” and “not groundbreaking.”
On Monday, Netanyahu presented documents obtained by Israeli intelligence that proved Iran lied to the world about its nuclear program. “The Iran deal, the nuclear deal, is based on lies,” Netanyahu said. But proponents of the deal, which eased sanctions on Iran in exchange for supposedly increased oversight measures and promises, say that the Iranians were known to be lying about their nuclear weapons development at the time the deal was struck under the Obama administration.
In an interview with Bloomberg News, Corker, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, echoed these Iran deal cheerleaders, saying the Obama administration knew of Iran’s lies going into the deal. “We knew of the possible military dimensions of their program up until 2003,” Corker said. “The Obama administration, when they were negotiating the JCPOA, chose not to pursue that issue.”
