(KFBK) A 12-year-old boy who lost his leg and a portion of his pelvis while camping at a public park is getting a $47.5 million settlement from a California municipality and utility.
Zachary Rowe was camping in San Mateo County Memorial Park with family in 2012 when a 72-foot-tall rotten tree fell on his tent while he was asleep.
He had 30 surgeries and spent six months in the hospital. Doctors had to amputate his right leg, pelvis and buttock to save his life.
