(HOUSTON CHRONICLE) -- Houston police have identified the suspect in the slaying of Dr. Mark Hausknecht as a man with a 20-year grudge against the physician, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said.
The suspect, Joseph James Pappas, 65, is now wanted on an arrest warrant and is considered to be suicidal and dangerous. Pappas' mother was one of Hausknecht's former patients who died during surgery over 20 years ago, providing a motive in the killing, the chief said during a press conference Wednesday.
"There was a lot of planning that went into this," Acevedo said. "There was a lot of planning and sadly some skill."
