Drunk driver tells cop: I'm a 'clean, thoroughbred, white girl'

It's not that she allegedly blew through a stop sign at 60 miles an hour that's making headlines.

Or that she allegedly had a .18 percent blood-alcohol level at the time.

It's the way Lauren Elizabeth Cutshaw is accused of trying to talk her way out of an arrest, saying she's a "very clean, thoroughbred, white girl."

The incident took place this week in Bluffton, South Carolina, as police say Cutshaw failed to stop at a four-way stop sign, cruising through at 60 mph.

The police report indicates the 32-year-old woman's eyes were bloodshot and glossy, and she was slurring words.

Once taken into custody and brought to the police station, she described herself as a white "thoroughbred" and added, "I'm a white, clean girl."

"I asked what that had to do with anything?" wrote the officer, who also is white.

Cutshaw responded, "You're a cop, you should know what that means."

She added: "You're a cop, you should know based on the people that come in this room."

According to the report, Cutshaw came up with a laundry list of other reasons why she should not be arrested, including having perfect grades her whole life, was a cheerleader and a sorority girl, she graduated from a "high accredited university," and that her partner is a cop.

Cutshaw, who is a realtor, told police she drank two glasses of wine at The Bluffton Room, a local restaurant.

When asked how full the glasses were, she replied, "I mean I was celebrating my birthday."

"Making statements such as these as a means to justify not being arrested are unusual in my experience as a law enforcement officer and I believe further demonstrate the suspect's level of intoxication," the officer wrote, according to the Island Packet.

Cutshaw was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center and faces charged including driving under the influence, speeding, disregarding a stop sign and simple possession of marijuana.
