(Voice of Europe) Recently several schools have cancelled or restricted their Lucia celebrations. And when they are questioned in media, they make up excuses and back-pedal.
The latest example is Lindöskolan in Kalmar, which decided that their Lucia celebration should not contain any gingerbread figures.
The reason behind the decision was, according to parents of students at the school that gingerbread costumes are perceived as racist.
