With a U.S. Senate seat and the governor’s office at stake in Florida amid charges of elections law violations, President Trump believes Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes should be fired.

In a wide-ranging interview Wednesday with the Daily Caller, Trump called Snipes a “disgrace” and a “disaster.”

On election night, Nov. 6, the Senate race was called for Republican Gov. Rick Scott. But since then, election supervisors in Broward and Palm Beach counties have been adding votes to their tally, prompting charges by Scott and the Republican Party that Florida’s reporting law had been violated.

The Daily Caller noted Snipes has defied a judge’s order to submit “over-voted” and “under-voted” absentee ballots for public review.

She also has admitted to “accidentally” mixing illegal ballots in with valid ones. And now, she contends, the illegal ballots “cannot be identified.”

Trump pointed to previous alleged election violations by Snipes, including destroying ballots and opening ballots illegally.

“You look at her past, she’s a disaster,” Trump said, “Even with me. I won Florida and — you remember? That area, Broward, didn’t come in.”

The Daily Caller said Trump renewed his call for national voter ID laws.

“The Republicans don’t win and that’s because of potentially illegal votes,” Trump said. “When people get in line that have absolutely no right to vote and they go around in circles. Sometimes they go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again. Nobody takes anything. It’s really a disgrace what’s going on.”

Election workers in Florida are attempting to meet a 3:00 p.m. deadline on Thursday to finish their statewide recount.
