(EAST BAY TIMES) -- OAKLAND — Sen. Kamala Harris kicked off her presidential campaign with a blowout rally in her hometown Sunday, portraying herself as a fighter with the moral force to take on President Trump and unite a divided country.
“We are at an inflection point in the history of our nation,” Harris told a massive cheering crowd at Frank Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland. “We are here because the American Dream and our American democracy are under attack and on the line like never before.”
Speaking with a backdrop of City Hall draped in American flags and afternoon sun, a beaming Harris laid out a platform of progressive values while taking a hard line against the Trump administration.
