Police rep blasts left after bloody Houston shooting

Reacting to the shooting Monday afternoon of four Houston police officers, the head of the local police union condemned far-left activists whose rhetoric puts targets on officers.

Houston Police Union President Joe Gamaldi said at a news conference he was speaking on behalf of 5,200 Houston officers and “the other 800,000 police officers who are working the streets every single day putting their lives on the line,” the Gateway Pundit reported.

“We are sick and tired of having targets on our back. We are sick and tired of having dirtbags trying to take out lives when all we are trying to do is protect this community and protect our families,” Galmaldi said. “Enough is enough.”

He then directed his words to “the ones out there spreading the rhetoric that police officers are the enemy.”

“Well, just know we all got your number now,” he warned. “We’re going to be keeping track of all y’all.

“And we’re going to make sure that we hold you accountable every time you stir the pot on our police officers.”

Wounded officer ‘tough as nails’

Four Houston officers were wounded and one suffered a knee injury in a gun battle during a raid of a suspected drug house.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Tuesday that one of four narcotics officers shot Monday had been struck by gunfire two other times during his career.

Acevedo said the officer, described as “tough as nails,” told him in a note that he had to go into the house because he knew his “guys were down.”

“The only thing bigger than his body, in terms of his stature, is his courage,” Acevedo said.

Two suspects died in the shooting, the police chief said.
