[Regarding "Plucking apart Andy Stanley's 'Chick-fil-A theology'"] Fifteen or 16 years ago, when I worked as an editor with Multnomah Books in Sisters, Oregon, I edited a book by Andy Stanley, entitled "The Next Generation Leader," although that might not have been the final name of the book. I still have the original text, with all my corrections discussed in a separate email to Andy.
I don't wish to say anything truly negative about Andy, but I do remember that he was extremely proud of his original draft and was not the least bit convinced that he needed any advice from someone like me! (Likewise, incidentally, with his father ... who didn't believe that ANY of his own original text needed any outside input!)
Unfortunately, the originators of Multnomah did not have much actual experience in running a business, and made some fundamental mistakes as a result. As someone who'd worked as an editor, all over the country before moving to Oregon, I could see Multnomah folding up sometime within the next year or two after I got to Sisters. And unfortunately for a lot of people, I was absolutely right.
