Country-rock superstar Charlie Daniels is taking Democrats who support full-term abortion to the woodshed, noting he’s not the judge, but there is one whom everyone ultimately will face.
“He is waiting behind the final veil at the end of the road we must all walk,” he wrote on his Soap Box page, “where we will all appear and give account for the things we have done while on this earth and we will all stand there, with no place to hide, where the verdicts are final and eternal and there is no appeal.”
He cited Jeremiah 1:5, which states, “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you,” and Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul.”
His comments follow New York’s adoption of a law allowing abortion until birth and the Virginia governor’s apparent approval of infanticide.
“If a seed has the potential to become a tree, if an egg has the potential to become an eagle, there is absolutely no denying that life begins at conception and common sense tells you that abortion at any stage of pregnancy is tantamount to murder, but what has happened in New York and Virginia has gone beyond the pale of anything civilized people would allow,” Daniels wrote.
“And before you abortion apologists — finger poised over the keyboard to condemn me for what I have written and vehemently believe – let me tell you this. I am not your judge.”
He noted that Adolf Hitler was intent on total extermination of Jews.
“Buchenwald, Auschwitz, Dachau, Treblinka, concentration camps were set up to systematically import, incarcerate and exterminate the Jews of Europe,” Daniels said. “There are those out there who will deny that the Holocaust ever happened, but I’m here to tell you that it did happen, I remember the newsreels from my early youth that showed bulldozers pushing thousands of naked, emaciated bodies of dead Jews into mass graves like so much garbage.
“There were six million Jews murdered by the Nazis, in gas chambers, mass shootings and any other kind of monstrous methods of death these demonic animals could come up with.”
The latest moves, he warned, are as bad.
“This past week Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York signed into law a bill that is every bit as evil and just as satanically inspired as Hitler’s Final Solution, a bill that allows abortion up to the time the child comes through the birth canal.
“If you think that’s not cruel enough, if a baby designated to be aborted somehow makes it through the abortion process alive, the protections that were previously in place to protect the child that survived have been removed.”
Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam, Daniels said, has “gone New York one better.”
Northam defended “a totally barbaric piece of legislation proposed by radical abortion proponents.”
The governor said in an interview: “If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Daniels wrote: “So, a living breathing human being, alive and living on its own outside the womb could be legally murdered, if the mother wishes. Under the proposed Virginia bill, Kermit Gosnell – the abortion doctor who is currently serving three life sentences in Pennsylvania for killing babies that survived the abortion process – would be a free man today.
“Now it’s infanticide, plain, simple and evil, wicked, an ungodly service to the prince of darkness, innocence sacrificed on the altar of sexual convenience and political expediency,” he said.
“Is this what the once noble Democratic Party has turned into? Is there not one influential man or woman Democrat that will step forth and denounce this hellish madness. How do the legislators who voted for this evil and the governors who sign it manage even a minute’s sleep at night?”
The octogenarian still does a full schedule of touring, recording and writing.
He’s been honored for gospel music, his Southern rock anthems and country hits.
He started out in the bluegrass genre with the Misty Mountain Boys and moved to Nashville in 1967.
Elvis Presley recorded a tune Daniels co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin’ Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan’s “Nashville Skyline.”
He started the Charlie Daniels Band in 1972, and among the many hits he’s known for are “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America” and his signature, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
