Mystery: 'Light explosions' detected in clear skies

A new phenomenon – light explosions in the sky – has attracted the attention of scientists as well as a rabbi who notes that lights in the “heaven” are “one of the signs the Messiah is imminent.”

The explosions in the upper atmosphere were detected by a Russian satellite that now has gone offline, according to the Research Institute of Nuclear Physics at the Russian State University, reported Sputnik News.

“With the help of the telescope, we have obtained even more important results than we expected,” Mikhail Panasyuk told the Russian news service. “It looks like we have encountered new physical phenomena. … We do not yet know their physical nature. … We have registered several times a very powerful ‘explosion’ of light. But everything was clear underneath it, no storms, no clouds.”

There had been no ground explosions or missile launches at the time.

Rabbi Yosef Berger, the rabbi of King David’s Tomb on Mount Zion, told Breaking News Israel he was surprised the phenomenon has not made front page news.

“Lights in the heaven are one of the signs the Messiah is imminent,” Berger said.

“The end-of-days is going to be a war between truth and lies. This war even exists within science,” he said. “If a man sees the truth, he needs to shout it to the world. If a man chooses a lie over the truth, it is a sign that he rejects the rule of God; that God created the world and still is the one who makes the world continue. This is the basis of idolatry.”

BIN explained the satellite also recorded a similar phenomenon: lights that appear above thunderstorms, called sprites.

The latest flashes, however, could not have been sprites, as they appeared in cloudless skies.

It’s not the first oddity that has been reported in recent weeks.

In December, the Saudi desert turned white with hailstones. And lightning, accompanied by hail, set fire to a remote Australian landscape.

Further, pounding hail killed at least one person and livestock in Swaziland.

It all happened at about the same time, noted BIN.

“Skeptics of the biblical account of the Ten Plagues will be chagrined to see shocking videos of a recent wave of hailstorms that struck simultaneously around the world in the most unlikely of places,” BIN said.

See video of hailstones in Saudi Arabia:

He noted the devastating effect of the hailstorm in southern Africa on cattle and the “unlikely meeting of the elemental opposites of fire and ice” witnessed by Australian farmers.

It all makes the “claims of a literal reading of the Bible more credible,” said BIN.

The Saudi storm in the northern province of al-Jawf left behind flood and hail damage. In Swaziland, hail killed one person and at least 18 cattle. The fire and ice was reported in Australia’s Central Wheatbelt district.

“Fire and ice raining down on beast and man, mirroring the Biblical account of the Exodus. Prophecy predicts that the plagues of Egypt will reappear before the arrival of the Messiah. Could it be that is what we are witnessing?”

That isn’t all.

BIN reported in January rivers in Malawi and Indonesia suddenly turned red.

“The Linthipe River in Dedza, Africa, turned blood red last Wednesday, shocking residents living along the river. The river is the center of life in the village and the women were the first to notice the phenomenon when they came to do laundry in the afternoon,” BIN reported.

A report from Malawi 24 quoted one woman saying: “As usual, we came to this place to wash our clothes besides drawing water for home use. But to our surprise we saw that blood like stuff was flowing in the river. This scared us and we called some people to witness the bizarre circumstances.”

Then the same thing happened in Jayapura, on Indonesia’s island of New Guinea.
