Sorry, Avengers fans: Army says Iron Man suit fantasy

By WND Staff

The U.S. military is delivering some sad, perhaps distressing, news, to fans of the Avengers movie series, especially Iron Man and his amazing suit that can resist Thor while providing comfort for the man inside, explains a report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

It seems that suit is fantasy.

The military several years ago announced its Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit, or TALOS. A video made it look like actor Robert Downey Jr.’s on-screen persona.

But it’s not to be, at least for now.

The Army Times reports a high-ranking official has put a damper on the vision.

There won’t be an incredibly compact arc reactor with Black Sabbath music, the report said.

“It’s not the Iron Man. I’ll be the first person to tell you that,” said SOCOM Acquisition Executive James Smith, according to the Times report.

He was speaking at the National Defense Industrial Association’s annual meetings.

He explained the technology need for the TALOS project isn’t yet available, not that it isn’t being sought.
