Reacting to a bill banning abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, a Democratic state lawmaker in Georgia has proposed a “Testicular Bill of Rights” to restrict the “reproductive rights” of her male counterparts.
State Rep. Dar’shun Kendrick admitted her bill in the state legislature is all about turning the tables on male lawmakers she said were seeking to impose laws on a woman’s reproductive rights, CBS News reported.
Abortion in Georgia is allowed during the first 20 weeks of a pregnancy. A heartbeat usually is detectable at about six weeks.
Kendrick told CBS News the heartbeat bill “inspired me to see what the reaction would be from some males and male legislators if the tables were turned and we started to talk about their reproductive rights and organs.”
She wrote on Twitter: “Ggggooooodddd morning! Introducing my ‘testicular bill of rights’ legislative package. You want some regulation of bodies and choice? Done!
Among the measures would be requiring men to obtain permission from their sex partner before they get a prescription for any erectile dysfunction medication. And it would allow men who have sex without a condom to be charged with aggravated assault.
Kendrick said she’s already accomplished her objective.
“It has started the conversation about the absurdity of regulating women’s bodies and right to choice and instead focused on men and their rights,” she said.
The heartbeat bill now moves to Georgia’s Republican-majority Senate, FoxNews.com reported.
