Iran dispatched a container of explosives to Paris to create a bomb to terrorize the French capital, but the plot was foiled when authorities stopped a vehicle that was intended to deliver the destruction, the Jerusalem Post reported.
An intelligence source speaking to the British newspaper Independent in Arabic described the plot.

A civilian plane hauled the half ton of TATP explosives in diplomatic packages from Tehran to Geneva, Switzerland.
The attack was supposed to be carried out by an Iranian intelligence official who worked at the Iranian embassy in Austria, the report said.

However, French intelligence "thwarted the attack after the authorities arrested a Belgian couple of Iranian origin who had the explosives in their car on their way to Paris," the report said.
The civilian plane was an Airbus A320 carrying 240 passengers.

The source said the plot constitutes a clear blow to "all international treaties related to security in international aviation."
"According to the source, Iran frequently uses civilian aircraft and civilian airlines to transport explosives, weapons and ballistic missiles, as well as funds to Hezbollah in Lebanon and elsewhere in the world," the report said.
