President Trump is continuing his fierce assault on urban problems plaguing the city of Baltimore, and is now urging the Democratic congressman representing the region to take his "beautiful waste of an Oversight Committee" and investigate the billions of dollars that have been stolen and wasted there.
"What Elijah Cummings should do is he should take his Oversight Committee, bring them down to Baltimore and invest all of the -- and really study the billions and billions of dollars that's been stolen. It's been wasted. It's been stolen," Trump told reporters Tuesday on the White House lawn.

"They ought to take that beautiful waste of an Oversight Committee, go down to Baltimore and other Democratic-run cities and take a look, see if you can find the billions that have been stolen," the president explained.
"And I’ll tell you what, the White House and myself in letters and emails and phone calls have received more phone calls than I think on any other subject of people from Baltimore and other cities corruptly run by Democrats thanking me for getting involved. Those people are living in hell."

"At the right time I’ll visit, but the people of Baltimore are very thankful," Trump continued. "They have let us know by the thousands of people because of the fact that finally somebody’s pointing out how corrupt Baltimore is, how billions and billions of dollars have been stolen, and the ones that like it the best what I’m doing are African American voters. Those are the ones."

With some news media now shedding light on problems in Baltimore that included rat-infested portions of town, talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh noted on Tuesday: "Something's going to have to be done about it or at least something's going to have to appear to be done. They're gonna have to look like they're doing something."
"This is the president of the United States calling out a single member of Congress after this member of Congress slanders Trump," Limbaugh explained.
"These people are presiding over genuine rat-fests. ... These circumstances ought to be unacceptable to a responsible member of Congress. Why are you there?"

Limbaugh said in his opinion, Trump is winning the national debate over Baltimore's problems.

"All this money was spent, and nothing changes for the better," he said. "The fact that Trump was right mitigates this stuff about how mean he is and how uncouth he is. ... Trump is one of the most brilliant branding and marketing agents I've ever seen."
While some may think the president is harming himself politically by targeting Baltimore and Cummings, Trump said, "I think I’m helping myself, because I’m pointing out the tremendous corruption that’s taken place in Baltimore and other Democratic-run cities. All you have to do is look at the past mayors in Baltimore, see what happened."
