At first I was going to say that the 2020 campaign is entirely unnecessary, period. Trump supporters already know that the president will be reelected in a landslide even larger than Reagan's win against Mondale. And Trump haters know with the same sense of certainty that almost no one will vote to reelect this president, and therefore anyone they run will win.
That being said, with everyone's mind already made up, why are we even hearing about this election in the media more than perhaps a week or so before the actual voting? All that's really necessary is a polite reminder for the "beautiful people" to fill out their absentee ballots and mail them in from their second, third or fourth "home away from home" where their private jet is parked out near the pool and runway where they are currently vacationing. Or better yet, mail a ballot from each home!
After all, isn't it the superior education, knowledge and intellect of our "betters" that actually determines our election outcomes? Just think of the pitiable condition in which each and every one of us Deplorables would exist without America's betters to direct and guide us at the polls? Frightening!

Yet, with all that being said, the almost perpetual presidential election season in which we find ourselves yet again might just be due to some of the more mundane concerns that fester in the minds of even the Deplorables' betters. Concerns such as, "How do I earn more money for my big media company this quarter over last quarter, so that I get an even bigger bonus, and can hire more has-beens from the previous administration as electioneering commentators? Lease a new jet? Consider buying land on Mars? Perhaps I should invest in a fifth vacation home there, since it is such a nearby planet."
From big tech we hear similar concerns, but added to those are such high and lofty thoughts as, "Is this the proper election on which to unleash full-blown artificial intelligence mind control on the population, to insure that we as a nation (of tech billionaires) elect the best candidate for us to use our algorithms to rule the world?"
TRENDING: The issues that will destroy the Democrats in the midterms
After all, unlike other people in the world, our ruling elites only want the best for the rest of us; their vast wealth and power make them immune to all the petty self-gratification and greedy special interests exhibited by humanity in general, especially around election time. Things like a kid's college education that will cost twice what our first home cost. Foregoing one spouse's income to do homeschooling and protect our young children's minds from a rotting and collapsing educational institution that exists first and foremost as a tool for producing insanity among its young charges, followed by a nationwide Democratic election-funding tool through mandatory teacher donations. Or perhaps we don't care for the way that Planned Parenthood runs our schools as an abortion mill so they can sell the baby body parts.
A perpetual election season serves the interests of the entrenched elites very well, especially those whose fortunes are founded upon the almighty mouse click. The rest of us? It just makes us even more crazy. Or maybe that's the real reason we "need" such an extended election campaign.
