Nellie Ohr, the wife of demoted DOJ official Bruce Ohr, fed the Justice Department an ongoing chain of emails with allegations of dirt against then-presidential candidate Donald Trump even while she was probing those claims for a DNC-funded operative, according to documents released Thursday by Washington watchdog Judicial Watch.
“Nellie Ohr funneled anti-Trump smears to her husband’s underlings in the DOJ, who were running an illicit spy operation against President Trump,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Nellie Ohr is obviously a key figure in the Clinton-DNC-Fusion GPS spy ring.”
Judicial Watch has been conducting a long series of Freedom of Information Act requests and lawsuits in its investigation of how the Obama administration conceived and orchestrated its investigation of the Trump campaign.
Judicial Watch’s latest release was of 72 pages of documents from the DOJ containing Russia-related emails sent from Nellie Ohr to high-ranking DOJ official Lisa Holtyn at the time Ohr worked with anti-Trump dossier firm Fusion GPS.
Holtyn at the time was a top aide to former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr.
In a Nov. 22, 2016, email, Nellie Ohr told Holtyn: “Who stands behind the Russian ‘friends of Trump;'” which she answers enthusiastically in the first line of the email: “Pornographer-turned-pro-Kremlin-media-impresario Konstantin Rykov!!!”
Fusion GPS was paid by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee to create the anti-Trump dossier.
“The documents show Nellie Ohr’s providing Justice Department officials much the same kind of open-source research and investigative services she was paid to provide Fusion GPS,” Judicial Watch said.
“Nellie Ohr told Congress that she worked at Fusion GPS on ‘a project looking into the relationship of Donald Trump with [Russian] organized crime,’ for which she would ‘write occasional reports based on the open source research that I described about Donald Trump’s relationships with various people in Russia.'”
The watchdog said, “Documents released earlier this week and last week by Judicial Watch show that Nellie Ohr pushed dossier information against Donald Trump through her husband Bruce Ohr to DOJ and FBI.”
Judicial Watch also obtained documents showing a conversation between former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Kathleen Kavalec and Bruce Ohr discussing the targeting of Trump with Steele dossier material.
An email reveals that Nellie Ohr informed her husband that she was deleting emails sent from his Justice Department email account.
The documents also showed that Bruce Ohr remained in regular contact with Steele after he was terminated in 2016 by the FBI. And Ohr passed along information Steele provided him to Justice Department colleagues and the FBI, Judicial Watch said.
Bruce Ohr testified to Congress that his wife provided him with a memory stick that included research she had done for Fusion GPS, and he passed it along to the FBI.
On Wednesday, Judicial Watch released evidence that Nelli Ohr was behind a spreadsheet that purported to tie Trump to all kinds of Russia interests.
“These documents show a crazed DOJ-FBI effort to use the Clinton spy ring at Fusion GPS, namely Nellie Ohr, to smear President Trump – even before he was sworn in as president,” said Fitton. “Clinton campaign operative Nellie Ohr may as well as have had a desk at the Justice Department.”
On Dec. 5, 2016, Bruce Ohr emailed himself an Excel spreadsheet, apparently from his wife, titled “WhosWho19Sept2016.”
“The spreadsheet purports to show relationship descriptions and ‘linkages’ between Donald Trump, his family and criminal figures, many of whom were Russians,” Judicial Watch said.
