Former ICE chief to AOC: ‘Never seen such hate toward law enforcement’

Socialist newcomer to Congress Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has had verbal run-ins with former ICE acting director Thomas Homan before.

This time it wasn’t pretty.

A video posted online shows Homan going after her in a House hearing for demanding to abolish the law enforcement agency “rather than do YOUR job and legislate.”

She repeatedly tells him his time is up, and finally she slams down a gavel after someone sitting next to her points her to it.

His reaction?

“In my 34 years, I’ve never seen such hate toward a law enforcement agency in my life that you want to abolish them rather than do YOUR job and legislate.”

Just a few months back, she was demanding in a hearing that he confirm he supported separating children and their parents when they come across the border illegally.

Homan refused to say the words she wanted, insisting that his policy recommendation was for zero tolerance.

When she pointed out that included separating children from parents, he explained to her that it’s what happens in the criminal justice system when a parent faces charges.

She argued that those applying for asylum aren’t facing charges. And he pointed out there is a legal process for asylum, and those who enter illegally do face charges. In those instances, parents are separated from their children just as any criminal defendant in the United States would be.

Ocasio-Cortez, besides claiming the world has only 12 years to solve global warming and wondering whether it’s still OK to have children, chased a proposed Amazon headquarters out of her district. And she’s famously called the detention centers started by President Obama for illegal immigrants “concentration camps.”

She blames the camps on President Trump, who inherited them from Obama.

See her response when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked her if she called the centers “concentration camps” while Obama was in office:

Homan confirmed that, despite Ocasio-Cortez’ allegations, the centers were launched by Obama’s administration.

“I was there … when it was built,” he said.
