Abbas accused of bringing ‘La La Land’ to United Nations

Pay no attention to the recent demonstrations with knives, rifles and suicide belts, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told the United Nations, because we “spread a culture of peace.”

And Palestinians are “not against Jews,” he claimed, even though Palestinian Authority TV affirmed that at “the end of time the Muslims will fight the Jews” and urged Allah to “count them and kill them one by one, and do not leave even one.”

The leader of the Fatah Movement, said Palestinian Media Watch, appears to have “taken a trip to La La Land” during a recent U.N. appearance.

“Abbas told the U.N. and the world that the Palestinian leadership has ‘spread a culture of peace,’ that they ‘fight violence and terror,’ and that Palestinians are ‘not against Jews.’ He stressed several times that the PA will ‘never turn to violence and terror,'” the report said.

Yet just two months ago, Abbas’ own Fatah Movement “marched into 2020 carrying knives, rifles, and suicide belts, at several rallies in different towns in the West Bank.”

See video of Abbas:

He took a different tack at the U.N.

“We have worked to spread a culture of peace among our people, among all the Palestinians,” Abbas said. “We say to them: ‘Only peace. We do not want war. We do not want violence. We do not want terror. We fight violence and terror throughout the world. … We fight against terror. We are not terrorists.'”

Abbas insisted the Palestinians “struggle is not against the Jews, but rather against those who occupy our land.”

“We will never turn to violence and terror, no matter how we are attacked,” he said. “… We believe in peace and believe in fighting violence. We will never turn to violence. … We are against terror and violence, regardless of its color, form, or source. We will not accept it. We will fight through peaceful popular resistance.”

However, PMW has documented that Abbas includes murderous terror against Israelis under the definition of “peaceful popular resistance.”

“During the 2015-2016 ‎terror wave (‘The Knife Intifada’), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded in stabbings, shootings, and car ramming attacks. Abbas said: ‘We want peaceful popular uprising, and that’s what this is,'” PMW said.

“Abbas lied to the U.N. on another critical issue as well. He claimed that Palestinians are ‘not against the Jews,’ yet PMW has documented that Antisemitism is thriving in the PA from PA and Fatah sources and that antisemitic messages are taught by the PA and Fatah.”

Abbas stated: “I emphasize – our struggle is not against the believers of the Jewish religion. We are not against the Jews. We are Muslims… A Muslim who says ‘I am against the Jews’ is an infidel. If you say ‘I am against the Jews’ or ‘against the Torah’ you are an infidel! And not a Muslim! We are not against the Jews.”

Yet, PMW documented, countless statements contradict that.

For example, a professor of Quranic studies said, “If a fish in the sea fights with another fish, I am sure the Jews are behind it.”

And Sheikh Osama Al-Tibi said, “Humanity will never be able to live together with them.”

An Abbas’ adviser said, “This is a conflict [with Israel] between two entities, good and evil, between two projects: Allah’s project vs. Satan’s project.”

The report noted Abbas claimed at the U.N. that Palestinians have recognized Israel, yet his message to Palestinians is that all of Israel is “Palestine.”
