(WASHINGTON EXAMINER) — A handful of people were killed in Tennessee after two tornadoes ravaged through the state in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The tornadoes, one of which ripped across downtown Nashville, claimed the lives of at least seven, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman told the Associated Press. Meanwhile, approximately 40 buildings collapsed around the city.
“Nashville is hurting, and our community has been devastated,” Mayor John Cooper said in a tweet. “Be sure to lend a helping hand to a neighbor in need, and let’s come together as a community once more.”
