A far-left member of Congress known for her foul-mouthed threats is calling for the defunding of police.
BizPacReview reports U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., wrote on Twitter, “I just want us to dig deeper so that the #DefundPolice movement isn’t brushed aside.”
She charged that “decades of structural racism” has let “police officer after police officer off the hook for murder.”
Know that it’s still both, but don’t let the “who” overshadow the decades of structural racism that has created the system that allows police officer after police officer off the hook for murder. I just want us to dig deeper so that the #DefundPolice movement isn’t brushed aside.

Tlaib told supporters the evening of her election to Congress she would “impeach the mother—–,” meaning President Trump. And she said in response to a declaration by Trump, “F— a national day of prayer.”
On Sunday, she said regarding the death of 46-year-old George Floyd: “Too many folks are confused when they hear we need to #DefundPolice. I ask you to engage in this debate with an openness. There is real validity in dismantling the current racist system that has led to this pain.”
The website for Black Lives Matter demanded “acknowledgment and accountability for the devaluation and dehumanization of Black life at the hands of the police.”
BLM said Floyd’s violent death “was a breaking point – an all too familiar reminder that, for Black people, law enforcement doesn’t protect or save our lives. They often threaten and take them.”
“We call for an end to the systemic racism that allows this culture of corruption to go unchecked and our lives to be taken. We call for a national defunding of police. We demand investment in our communities and the resources to ensure Black people not only survive, but thrive.”
Actresses Susan Sarandon and Emily Ratajkowksi also support the defunding of police departments.
But a Twitter user responded to Sarandon with, “Says the women hiding in her gated community and gated house.”
Another pointed out that not having police departments didn’t seem to be an advance: “And where will that leave us, exactly? Everyone armed, is that the ultimate goal? Isnt (sic) that where we came from? Then what?”
Another Twitter user, Sean Baxter, said: “Can u get any dumber? Please explain how we will enforce any laws without cops?”
