(JACKSONVILLE.COM) – According to Bloomberg, the tech giant plans to open 1,000 warehouses closer to neighborhoods in the U.S. to help meet consumer demand for online orders.
Unlike many of its warehouses, which typically operate in areas where they're hardly seen, these facilities would shift closer to places like shopping malls, said the report.
The warehouses would help Amazon better fulfill its promises of offering consumers two-day delivery on items as rivals, including Target and Walmart, use their physical stores to help provide same-day delivery on items, said Bloomberg.

With millions of Americans beginning to quarantine in March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, home delivery orders made to Amazon surged.
