During previous times in our nation's history, our political divisions centered around the best course of action to achieve the results on which we mostly agreed. Peace in our nation and communities, prosperity for as many as possible, a good education as a basis for citizens to better themselves, a chance to provide a secure future for our families. The political differences between citizens had to do with the best way of achieving these common goals we all had for our families, communities and nation. The Cultural Revolution that has swept across America has changed all that.
The debate is no longer how to reach common goals on which we all agree, but whether our nation, as founded, and its people and institutions should be completely destroyed and rebuilt into a godless Marxist utopia.
The last time our nation faced a similar crisis was in the years leading up to the American Civil War. The abolitionists driving the then-new Republican Party had a goal for using the force of the federal government to transform the entire economic and social system of the Southern United States. After several years of attempts to compromise, it became obvious that there was no common ground upon which the sides agreed, with regard to an end result.

In his 1832 treatise "On War," Prussian military theorist Carl von Clausewitz wrote that war is merely the continuation of politics by other means.
In 2020 America, the political sides cannot even agree on the definitions of the things we want to improve. The definition of what constitutes a "family" or what male and female even mean anymore are all angrily debated. Foundational elements of American society such as universities, public agencies, journalism and our corporate, tech and financial institutions have been seized by the left and weaponized against ordinary Americans to enforce compliance with leftist political doctrine. After decades of liberal insistence on a colorblind society where race was not permitted as a factor in hiring, housing or university admissions – a goal the vast majority of Americans agreed was noble enough to effectively abolish the First Amendment's implied right to freedom of association as well as the right to privacy – liberals everywhere have done a complete reversal and now champion specific government benefits and corporate programs for the benefit of only one race.
There is no longer any agreement between the political sides that America is good, or was ever good. While one side proudly waves the American flag the other side routinely burns it, spits on it and/or urinates on it to show hatred of the nation it stands for. While one side prays for our nation, the other side burns churches, burns Bibles, harasses and assaults worshipers and tears down or decapitates statues of Jesus and Mary. While one side reveres the wisdom and courage of our Founding Fathers and significant leaders from America's past, the other side tears down their statues and destroys them in violent mob attacks, physically assaulting those who try to intervene and stop the lawlessness.
American leftists reached a point where their planned transformation of America into a socialist utopia through the political process hit an unexpected roadblock with the election of President Trump. His election was a result of the collective resistance of the American people to the left's anti-American ideology and a refusal to be dragged any further down the path to Marxism.

Clausewitz was correct. The violence shattering American cities is merely the left continuing their march toward the political goal of socialism by other means, by using violence to physically terrorize their political opponents into submission. Ironically, the violent mobs, along with their apologists and enablers in the Democratic Party, claim their socialist street fighters are the real victims in their bloody and fiery melees. Like terrorists, the leftist mobs occasionally offer lists of demands for communities to meet as a condition for them to stop their attacks. As with every agreement offered by terrorists, their proposed deal involves them receiving something for merely a promise to end the violence. As we saw with their promise to end the riots if federal officers were withdrawn from the federal courthouse in Portland, it was just a lie, a promise that meant nothing and was forgotten about as soon as their demand was met.
As it is now widely discussed that leftist street violence will continue after the November general election, it can be expected to get worse if President Trump is reelected.
We have reached a point in American political discourse where there is no middle ground between the sides, and the decision faced by every American is defined by the left. Americans either submit to their socialist vision of America and consent to the destruction and transformation of the United States, or they will attempt to impose it by force.
