Denzel Washington has reached success as a stage actor. And on television.
He reached superstardom acting in movies and triumphed in directing and producing.

He explains he puts God first.
“Everything that I have is by the grace of God,” he said.
His career got a shove from a prophecy by a woman in his mother’s beauty parlor in 1975, he said.
She told him he would “travel the world and speak to millions of people.”
He has, he explained, even though at the time he was holding 1.7 grade point average in college.
He said the important lesson he learned that day was to keep God in his life.
He also encouraged listeners to think big, not be afraid to go outside the box and focus.
“Just because you’re doing a lot more doesn’t mean you’re getting a lot more done,” he said.
And concentrate on getting done the things that are important.
“I don’t care how much money you make you can’t take it with you.”
Finally, he said, “I pray you put your slippers way under the bed tonight so that when you wake up in the morning you have to get on your knees to reach them. While you’re down there say thank you for grace, mercy, for understanding, wisdom, for parents, love, kindness. Thank you for peace, prosperity. Say thank you in advance for what’s already yours,” he said.
His father was a Pentecostal minister and he broke into films in “Carbon Copy” in 1981.
On television he was in St. Elsewhere for six years, and he often played the role of real-life figures, such as Rubin “Hurricane” Carter and Malcolm X.
He headlined “The Book of Eli” in 2010 and followed with “Unstoppable,” “Man on Fire” and “Flight”
In 2016, he was selected as the recipient for the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards.
