Biden’s ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ illegals program

By Lt. Col. James Zumwalt

Generations ago, before electronic games and televisions kept them inside, kids came up with ways to amuse themselves outside the home. One senseless fad that evolved was picking daisies growing wild in a yard and pulling off the petals one-by-one, reciting “she loves me, she loves me not.” The last petal pulled by a “petal plucker” supposedly provided the correct answer.

This fad came to mind with the recent answer President Joe Biden gave to the same question posed to him by the media earlier.

News circulated over the past few months that, based on 940 lawsuits filed to date by illegal immigrant parents, claiming psychological damage against the U.S. for child separation under the prior administration’s zero-tolerance policy, Biden is considering settlement payments of $450,000. Approximately 5,500 children ultimately were separated from parents who were being held accountable, via criminal prosecutions, for illegal entry. The payments, in total, could potentially reach as much as a million dollars per family.

Some members of Congress, such as Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, were in disbelief such a plan would receive serious consideration. He made the point – hoping it would “sink in” with the public – these illegals would receive more than families that lost loved ones answering the call to defend our nation; they only received a $400,000 life insurance payment. Biden’s plan outrageously rewards illegals who, as a consequence of breaking our laws, were separated from their children, knowing full well that would happen.

This issue first came up Nov. 4 when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy queried Biden about the $450,000 payments, asking: “Do you think that that might incentivize more people to come over illegally?”

Biden’s response revealed his surprise concerning the issue:

“If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah. But it’s not true … $450,000 per person, is that what you’re saying? That’s not going to happen.”

Biden, either uninformed about the settlement program or absent-mindedly forgetting about it, blasted such an idea as ridiculous although his Department of Justice had suggested such compensation be made to settle the lawsuits.

Biden’s enablers immediately went into spin-control mode. The next day, White House principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced that Biden was “perfectly comfortable” with the settlement program and that his use of the word “garbage” was just a reference to the $450,000 settlement amount. But all this makes one really wonder who then is running the Oval Office.

An interesting exchange occurred with Jean-Pierre when Doocy queried if Biden had considered giving payments to those entering the U.S. legally. When a befuddled Jean-Pierre responded why should we, Doocy countered with – why then should we be considering paying those who entered illegally?

Also seeking to explain away Biden’s blast was the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). It immediately informed Fox News a $450,000 settlement plan per family was very much in discussion and that Biden “may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own Justice Department … as it carefully deliberated and considered the crimes committed against thousands of families separated from their children. …” The ACLU should know since it is helping illegals with their claims.

When another reporter later endeavored to get a clarification from Biden on his exact stand concerning these settlement payments, Biden returned to a petal plucking response. It fell right in line with what Jean-Pierre stated about his supporting the policy but not clarifying support for any particular amount. The reporter queried:

“I’d like to ask you … Where do you stand? You said last week that this report about migrant families at the border getting payments was ‘garbage.'”

To this question Biden, obviously upset having been caught lying for the upteenth time in his political career, screamed wildly at the reporter:

“Now, here’s the thing: If in fact, because of the outrageous behavior of the last administration, you were coming across the border, whether it was legal or illegal, and you lost your child – you lost your child – it’s gone – you deserve some kind of compensation, no matter what the circumstance. What that will be, I have no idea. I have no idea. Yes.”

Illegal aliens are already taking a toll on America. Not only financially at a time we can ill afford it but, more importantly, a human toll is involved as violence by illegals starts claiming the lives of our citizens. Additionally, those responsible for protecting us from the criminal element among illegals – federal agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Border Patrol – are being stripped of their authority to so act.

Republicans are preparing to introduce legislation to block Biden’s “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” compensation program.

After 10 months in office, it is still unclear whether Biden is actually driving our ship of state. His actions the last week prior to the November 2020 presidential election were somewhat revealing as he took a greatly reduced profile approach to campaigning than did President Donald Trump. It was almost as if Biden knew he would win and felt – or his handlers felt – he should maintain a lower profile. While subsequent post-election claims of voting fraud by Biden critics were labeled the “Big Lie” by Biden supporters, there is still something unsettling about him winning more votes than any other presidential candidate in history.

As an apparently clueless Biden plucks away at the daisy petals representing various domestic and foreign policies, as with his vacillating positions on the settlement program for illegal alien criminals, we have one more reason to be concerned about his cognitive ability to understand important issues of the day. But, if on the other hand, he is cognizant of the fact he is merely the face of the Oval Office providing cover for others who, having helped get him there, are now pulling the strings, he is no petal plucker. In such a case, he more appropriately should be described (cleaning it up for public consumption) as a mother plucker.
