(LIFENEWS) – Pro-life activist Meredith Parente was awakened to the humanity of the preborn child some years ago. She began her advocacy journey with a local pro-life group in West Virginia. Today, Meredith heads something called the Magee Project, which is working through education and prayerful witness to end abortions at the Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Meredith’s goal is not to shut the hospital down. She notes that some 10,000 babies are born there each year. The hospital is also home to a world-class neonatal intensive care unit, saving the tiniest and most fragile of human beings.
Still, tragically, Magee performs some 400 abortions a year, making it the largest hospital-based abortion operation in Pennsylvania, according to Meredith’s research. However, since the Magee Project began, abortions at Magee have dramatically decreased from the 700 abortions a year performed previously.
