Revealed: The astonishing reason the Bible keeps mentioning ‘trees’

Trees may seem somewhat unimportant and mundane since they’re virtually everywhere and come in all shapes and sizes, but there’s an inspiring, hidden meaning to the plants when it comes to their presence in the Bible.

That according to the author of a new book probing the spirit level or parable meaning of not only Scripture, but everything we experience in life.

“Words such as ‘tree’ or ‘trees’ are found more than 350 times in Scripture, and there’s good reason, as they carry a higher meaning than just the physical plants that grow out of the ground,” says Joe Kovacs, author of the new best-seller “Reaching God Speed: Unlocking the Secret Broadcast Revealing the Mystery of Everything.”

The author says the key to understanding what trees represent is to realize that Jesus exclusively spoke in allegories known as parables, as Scripture notes: “Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.” (Matthew 13:34 NIV)

“Trees don’t just mean physical trees in the woods,” Kovacs explains. “On the metaphoric level, the Bible personifies them, making it clear the tall plants actually refer to people. Here are some examples in which it’s obvious they allude to human beings who can think, speak, and take action, be it good or evil.”

– “A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions” (Matthew 7:18–20 NLT).

– “Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit” (Matthew 12:33 KJV).

– “The trees decided to anoint a king over themselves. They said to the olive tree, ‘Reign over us'” (Judges 9:8 CSB).

–”Let the fields and everything in them celebrate. Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joy(Psalm 96:12 CSB).

“God occasionally throws some playfulness into the mix,” Kovacs says, “as in the case of Jesus healing a blind man. The gentleman whose sight was being restored noted: ‘I see people—they look like trees walking‘” (Mark 8:24 CSB).

Even the very first psalm of the Bible talks about people being blessed if they don’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, but instead have their delight in the law of the LORD.

“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” (Psalm 1:3 NIV).

“This is ultimately a prophecy for our glorious future,” says Kovacs, “as God is often ‘declaring the end from the beginning’ (Isaiah 46:10 KJV), telling us the conclusion of the story right from the start.

“And the end of our story is that we’re going to be like the ultimate tree, actually part of the tree of life, which is God Himself, as we never wither away in the flesh again, but produce spiritual fruit to help heal and save other people who didn’t initially understand God’s truth.”

Two prophecies connected to the tree mentioned in Psalm 1 are found in the books of Revelation and Ezekiel.

“The tree of life was on each side of the river, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations(Revelation 22:2 CSB).

“And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.” (Ezekiel 47:12 ESV)

“Scripture becomes so much easier to understand when we realize the Creator is speaking on an additional level, trying to get His followers to grasp what He’s saying on the spirit level of God speed,” says Kovacs.

“Jesus is even shown wondering if His own apostles would ever get up to speed, as He Himself said after telling them a parable: ‘Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand ALL THE PARABLES?’ (Mark 4:13 NKJV)

“Because parables are everywhere, and can be understood much more easily when we have eyes to see and ears to hear. That means exercising our spiritual eyes and spiritual ears, as opposed to our fleshly ones. As Scripture says, Christ ‘fills all things everywhere with himself’ (Ephesians 1:23 NLT). And we can learn about God ‘by the things that are made,’ (Romans 1:20 KJV), and that, of course, includes trees. After all, as poet Joyce Kilmer famously wrote, ‘only God can make a tree.'”

  • Easily explains how God embeds hidden messages forecasting the future in the physical, historical events recorded in Scripture
  • Examines the miracle of turning water into wine at a wedding, revealing why this famous event took place “on the third day,” why water was poured into six large containers, and why its instant transformation into the most perfect wine has a sublime meaning that goes far beyond what anyone has ever discussed
  • Unwraps the secret messages concerning the human birth of God, including the spirit significance of Jesus in a manger, the real reason the shepherds “returned,” and the never-trumpeted, majestic picture the entire story depicts for your own glorious future
  • Unmasks the miracle of the blind man healed by washing mud off his eyes. Clue: There’s something intriguing about the mud that becomes obvious when we connect the dots in Scripture
  • Reveals the incredible reason the Bible constantly mentions “three days” in both the Old and New Testaments. It goes far beyond the time Jesus spent in the heart of the earth.
  • Unveils the sublime, additional meanings emanating from “Let there be light” and “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” There’s much more to the beginning than you’ve ever imagined.
  • Illuminates the reason the darkness of night will ultimately be eliminated, and only never-ending light will exist

  • Illuminates the surprising and inspiring meaning of a “darkness that can be felt” (Hint: it’s something you can do right this second)
  • Explains what Jesus specifically meant by “outer darkness”
  • Clearly reveals why the Bible repeatedly mentions pagan peoples such as Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Girgashites, Jebusites and Hivites. It goes far beyond these ancient tribes with tough-to-pronounce names, as it actually refers to certain people alive today with whom you deal every day
  • Tells why Scripture so often talks about thorns and thistles. They’re far more than just sharp prickers growing in your garden
  • Explores the untold meaning of the conflict between David and Goliath: it has gigantic significance that Sunday-school teachers seem to have missed
