(CHRISTIAN HEADLINES) – New data that shows an increase in the total number of abortions in the United States underscores the need for more restrictive laws, a leading pro-life activist says.
The data by the pro-choice Guttmacher Institute shows there were 930,160 abortions in the United States in 2020 compared to 862,320 in the organization’s last report in 2017, which represents an 8 percent increase and the first major uptick in the U.S. in three decades.
Minus a slight bump in the mid-2000s, the number of abortions had been falling gradually since 1990, when there were 1,608,600 abortions.
