Gov. DeSantis: Biden’s IRS expansion ‘middle finger’ to Americans

President Biden’s plan for 87,000 new IRS agents as part of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act is a “middle finger” to Americans, says Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

He warns Washington is “going after you.”

“Of all the things that have come out of Washington that have been outrageous, this has got to be pretty close to the top,” DeSantis said, reported the website Florida Politics.

“I think it was basically just the middle finger to the American public, that this is what they think of you.”

Meanwhile, Florida’s chief financial officer, Jimmy Patronis is urging the state legislature to approve criminal penalties for “politically motivated” audits, recalling the IRS targeting of conservative groups under the Obama administration in 2013.

“People are people and they’re human, and they will make decisions based on their own politics,” Patronis said in a Fox News interview Wednesday. “And when somebody crosses a line in the role of their job as an IRS agent and it’s politically motivated, we will create those criminal penalties.”

Patronis said he expects pushback from Washington but Florida is prepared to push back itself.

“And Washington, I’m sorry, you know, they’re obsessed with the state of Florida and Ron DeSantis,” he said. “So we’re going to protect Floridians.”

See the Fox News interview with Jimmy Patronis:

DeSantis said Wednesday the prime target of the IRS expansion is not the billionaires, it’s  the “independent contractors, they’re going to go after small business people, they’re going to go after someone that may be driving an Uber or a handyman or all these things.”

“Why would they do that? Because you’re not going to be able to contend with the audit, so they’re going to crush a lot of people by doing that,” he said.

IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said in a statement Tuesday that the expansion over the next 10 years, bolstered by $80 billion from the bill, will allow the agency to provide additional services to taxpayers.

“The IRS has struggled for many years with insufficient resources to fulfill our important mission,” Rettig said. “During the next 10 years, these funds will help us in many areas, including adding critical resources to not just close the tax gap but meaningfully improve taxpayer service and technology.”

Patronis said the IRS expansion “supercharges” the IRS to “shake down” the average American. DeSantis pointed out there will be more employees in the IRS than in several other agencies combined.

EDITOR’S NOTE: During the Biden era of rapidly metastasizing madness, the greatest madness of all may be today’s shockingly widespread campaign to indoctrinate, seduce, groom and flat-out RECRUIT America’s children into the dark world of transgenderism. Countless LGBT activists, including many public-school teachers, have taken to proselytizing the new transgender salvation to America’s children, both on social media and within the schools themselves. Even Biden’s far-left Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra fully supports taxpayer-funded amputations of healthy body parts of these vulnerable children, declaring ghoulishly, “We should help those have the life-affirming care that they need.” The result? Untold numbers of America’s kids are being led into lives of not just unending conflict, confusion, suffering, deformity and disability, but far too often – as multiple studies prove – suicide. The whole unbelievable story – including the underlying reasons, almost entirely unreported elsewhere, for what amounts to the most massive child sexual abuse campaign in American history – is explored as never before in the July issue of WND’s critically acclaimed Whistleblower magazine, titled “WHAT’S REALLY BEHIND THE TRANSGENDER CRAZE?
