(WHO KNEW NEWS) – A man’s poor handwriting led to a failed robbery and a six-year extended sentence.
Alan Slattery of Saint Leonards, southeast England, reportedly tried to rob three banks within two weeks, using handwritten notes demanding cash from the cashier. His first attempt was at a Nationwide Building Society branch in Eastbourne on March 18. But his poor handwriting confused the cashier who was not able to read it. The robbery was foiled and Slattery left empty-handed.
Staff later deciphered Slattery’s note, which read, “Your screen won’t stop what I’ve got, just hand over the 10s and the 20s. Think about the other customers.” They then called the police, after which officers seized the note and checked the bank’s surveillance footage.
