Liberal mainstream media have used every underhanded dirty trick and tactic to try and stop Herschel Walker from winning the Georgia U.S. Senate election. But the fact is, Walker is still in the ring fighting. He deserves to win. Let me tell you why.
First, if you didn’t know, Republican Senate nominee Herschel Walker is set to face off against incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock in a runoff election on Tuesday, Dec. 6, after both candidates failed to get at least 50% of the vote in the midterm race earlier this month.
Let me share with you seven reasons why my wife, Gena, and I passionately believe every American should rally immediately behind Herschel Walker. I’m going to tell you what mainstream media won’t tell you about him.
7. Herschel’s upbringing shows he truly understands and empathizes with the struggles of average Americans. He wasn’t raised with a silver spoon, not even close.
Famouspeople.com explained:
- Herschel Walker was born on March 3, 1962, in Augusta, Georgia, to Willis and Christine Walker into a financially backward family. He was one of seven children of his parents.
- Herschel grew up in Wrightsville, Georgia. He was an obese child through the first 11 years of his life and was physically very inactive. He showed little interest in sports and was not an athletic kid. He seldom went out of his house; instead, he spent most of his time reading books and poetry at his home.
- Walker had stuttering issues in his childhood. In addition, he dealt with other health problems, such as nosebleeds and joint disorders. He faced a lot of bullying at school, which led to severe self-image issues. As a result, he had a very hard time fitting in with other kids at his school.
- However, by the time he was in the seventh grade, Herschel had decided to turn his life around. He began sprinting hard, controlled his diet and lost a lot of weight in just one year. In addition, he also practiced speaking in front of the mirror for hours to overcome stuttering. He gave most of the credit for his newfound motivation to his mother and said that she was the one who inspired him to love himself and be physically fit.
- By the time Herschel was in junior high school, he had become a marvelous athlete. He began playing football and running track. The positive results also reflected in academia, and he graduated in Johnson County High School with a football scholarship.
6. Walker’s “American dream” sports success story is a huge inspiration and asset that Americans and the U.S. Senate need right now, especially as our country struggles for a fresh start, renewed vision and restoration from these past few crippling years.
The website of Famous African Americans explained, “In high school, Walker developed an interest in sports and played football, basketball and competed in track. [H]e played for the for the Johnson County Trojans High School Football team from 1976 to 1979. He helped the Trojans to win their first state championship. In 1979, he was awarded the first Dial Award.
“Walker attended University of Georgia where he was a three time All-American and winner of the Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Award. He set an NCAA freshman rushing record and helped win the national collegiate football title. He set 10 NCAA records, 15 Southeast Conference records, [and] 30 Georgia all-time records.”
Walker would go on to become an NFL football running back legend who played in and broke many more records in his 12 seasons of professional ball. In 1999, he was also inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame and was selected as one of the best college football players of all time by Fox Sports, Sports Illustrated and ESPN.
Whether you like sports or even Walker’s political pursuits, his passionate drive and proven track record of excellence will easily transfer over and be used in the U.S. Senate to benefit all of us, not just Georgians.
5. Herschel secured former President Trump’s endorsement for this election, for whom he also served on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, from 2018 to 2020.
Walker’s stellar sports career and health advocacy is proof that he’s a born fighter still in his prime and whose middle name should be Perseverance. In light of Biden’s degrading and suspect mental health, we need more brains in Washington who are fit to fight. Walker is that man.
4. We need more U.S. senators who have experienced business and financial success, especially in our downturned economy with runaway inflation. Herschel is a first-class business sensation and manager. He is the owner of several companies under the name “Renaissance Man International.”
As Yahoo News explained, “Beginning in 1984, he dabbled in the fast food industry, and he launched Renaissance Man Food Services in 1999. He added more businesses to his portfolio under H. Walker Enterprises, which was founded in 2002.”
Washington is broken, our economy is in shambles, and average Americans are paying the price with soaring inflation.
According to Dave Ramsey’s Solutions (October 2022):
- 47% of Americans will spend less on Christmas this year;
- 37% are struggling or in crisis with their finances;
- Nearly 40% of Americans have no savings;
- 18% took on more consumer debt this year;
There’s only one solution for Biden’s and Congress’ out of control spending, staggering deficits and debts, and ineptness to make and manage taxpayers’ monies: We need more successful businessmen like Herschel Walker in the U.S. Senate.
3. Mainstream media try to pitch Walker’s wealth as a detriment (estimated at between $29 million and $65 million, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution), but I see it as a clear reflection of an inspiring American success story, particularly for minorities. Walker doesn’t “need the Senate job” for income or celebrity. He already has all that. He wants to utilize who he is, what he has and what he’s accomplished to help America and Americans while serving as a U.S. senator.
2. Walker is a benevolent philanthropist as well as veteran and mental health advocate.
Walker was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder in 2001, which he described in his 2008 book, “Breaking Free: My Life with Dissociative Identity Disorder.” As a result, his charitable work often involves mental illness advocacy, like with his help for veterans in the Patriot Support Program.
According to the Jacksonville Daily Record, through his own medical and mental health treatment and therapy:
Walker learned he had endured much pain as a child when he was bullied and had to live with a speech impediment.
That pain was repressed and didn’t manifest itself until years later.
“I didn’t deal with the pain I suffered,” he said. “I tell people today, if you have pain, deal with it then.”
Walker’s journals attracted the attention of Simon & Schuster, which used much of the material to publish “Breaking Free,” a memoir in which Walker shares the story of his life and how he copes with his illness.
After his friends and people who knew him from his football career read the book, they treated him differently. That’s when Walker realized that having a mental health issue comes with a stigma.
“They ran away from me like I was a vampire,” Walker said. “Now, they’re coming back. When I walk through an airport, people want to talk to me. Not about football, but because they have a problem.” …
“There is help out there. Do not look down on yourself,” he said. “I’m here to tell you it’s not going to be easy, but you’ve got to know that you can overcome. What has happened to me has made me better.”
1. Walker is a man of faith who has lived most of his life as a committed Christian. No man is perfect, including me. George Washington was absolutely right when he said, “Perfection falls not to the lot of humanity.” But imperfections haven’t stopped Walker or me from trying to be the best Christian examples we can be, including showing that we need forgiveness like anyone else.
“Herschel’s story is one of redemption and hope,” said Ralph Reed, a Georgia resident and chair of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, as Christianity Today reported.
Walker represents “the power of grace, redemption and the opportunity America still provides,” echoed Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in his endorsement of Herschel.
“Herschel Walker is a man who, when he gave his life to Jesus Christ … became a sinner saved by grace,” argued the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody on his podcast. “He admits he was never a Boy Scout. But when you truly give your life to Jesus Christ, he forgives you of your past. It’s washed away, covered under the blood, as they say, despite members of the liberal media who clearly can’t grasp that concept.”
With all respect to Walker’s senatorial opponent, Democratic incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, he’s only a shadow of the giant Herschel is. I have no doubt as a man of the cloth and head pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Warnock is admired by many. But I think right now, in the crippled shape Washington and our country is in, America and the U.S. Senate need an American superstar to help make our country great again. Hershel is that culture warrior.
A new AARP poll released this last week surveying Georgia voters found that Democratic incumbent Warnock has a slight lead over his GOP opponent Walker, 51% to 47%.
Fox News further explained, “Warnock holds a strong 24-point lead among voters 18 to 49 years of age, while Walker is up 9 percentage points among Georgia voters ages 50 and over.”
It’s going to take every one of us to get out and help Walker win. So, please, fight to help Herschel win Georgia’s Senate seat!
If you’re a Georgian or know someone who is (especially in the 18-49 age range), please vote for or encourage them to vote for Hershel Walker for U.S. Senate. Please share this column with them and encourage everyone you know to financially support Walker via his website, Team Herschel.
The future of America and Americans are depending upon it.
