An American organization, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, once was named by the Department of Justice as a co-conspirator in Hamas’ terrorism, in the Holy Land Foundation case.
Court filings said CAIR and its founders, although not indicted, were involved in the largest terror funding case in U.S. history. In it, prosecutors busted up NLF, which was a main fundraising arm of Hamas in America and reportedly had sent $12 million to the cause.
At the time, former Assistant U.S. Attorney James Jacks explained, “CAIR has been identified by the government as a participant in an ongoing and ultimately unlawful conspiracy to support a designated terrorist organization [Hamas] – a conspiracy from which CAIR never withdrew.”
A federal judge agreed, stating. “The government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR with Hamas.”
So it is perhaps unsurprising that since Hamas terrorists invade Israel, butchering some 1,400 civilians on Oct. 7 and even now promising more violence to come, CAIR is on the stump, promoting Hamas and its agenda.
And to condemn Israel.
For example, in a statement this week, CAIR, claiming to be the nation’s “largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization,” blamed Israel, which has promised to destroy the Hamas killers and has released its military to do just that, is breaking “Palestinian cultural sites.”
That means, CAIR claims, that Israel wants to entirely “eliminate Palestinian existence.”
CAIR cites a “Heritage for Peace” report that says there has been damage to 100 cultural landmarks in Gaza, including the Great Omari Mosque, the Church of Saint Porphyrius and a 2,000-year-ol Roman cemetery.
Those may very have been damaged, and it’s possible the damage was from Israel’s military, but the fact is that mostly Hamas terrorists set up their military compounds at, under or adjacent to schools, hospitals, even historic locations, in order to use them, and their people, as shields against Israel’s response to the Hamas war.
CAIR also claims Israel has killed “almost 16,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children in Gaza.”
CAIR chief Nihad Awad issued a statement claiming, “The ongoing destruction of Palestinian civilian institutions and cultural sites such as museums, cemeteries, universities, schools, hospitals, mosques, churches, and various public facilities clearly shows that the Israeli apartheid government is seeking to eliminate Palestinian existence in Gaza and the West Bank—just as Israeli leaders have repeatedly threatened.”
Actually, it is Hamas, in its founding documents, that demands the complete destruction and annihilation of Israel.
Awad claims Israel is deliberate in its campaign to “dehumanize the Palestinian people and deny their existence,” when the facts are that Israel warns Gaza residents in advance of its military’s moves, so that they can evacuate and avoid injury.
CAIR has advocated for a discussion about whether Western leaders “even regard Palestinians as “human” after, it claimed, more than 700 women, children and men were “massacred.”
CAIR’s claim about that event challenged the administration of Joe Biden for “giving the Israeli government the ‘green light'” to resume bombing Gaza. This after there was a days-long cease-fire in order for some of the hostages taken by Hamas’ terrorists to be released.
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said, “One has to wonder whether leaders of our nation and the Global North even regard Palestinians as human beings, because if they did, those leaders would act to end the far-right Israeli government’s open and ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing targeting all Palestinians, whether in Gaza or the West Bank.”
He complained about Israel “killing more than 700 civilians in 24 hours,” a figure that remained unconfirmed, and did not mention the 1,400 Israeli civilians butchered, sometimes by beheading babies and other times by burning whole families alive, by Hamas’ terrorists.
Earlier, CAIR started discussions about Israeli “war crime of the day” and such.
Awad said, at that point, “Each day brings another war crime in the far-right Israeli government’s genocidal campaign of ethnic cleansing in Gaza. These are American bombs being dropped on civilians – paid for with American taxpayer dollars. Each new war crime by the Israeli government that is ignored or excused by the United States only serves to undermine our expressions of support for human rights and to expose the hypocrisy of everyone who is enabling Netanyahu’s war crimes.”
It was an investigative report from Paul Sperry, of Real Clear Wire, who just weeks ago reported that the FBI “has been investigating Hamas’ biggest ally in America for the past 30 years – without filing any charges.”
He reported, “Launched in 1994 as a secret front organization to support Hamas, according to declassified FBI wiretap transcripts and FBI testimony, the Council on American-Islamic Relations has, in the decades since, become an accepted member of Washington’s lobbying community. The New York Times and other influential newspapers routinely describe CAIR as a ‘Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.'”
That’s even though CAIR never repudiated its support for the terrorists in Hamas.
In fact, Joe Biden had enlisted CAIR to take part in a White House “initiative” to fight anti-Semitism.
Sperry continued, about a recent event staged by CAIR, the organization “helped rally more than 100,000 Muslims in D.C. to instead condemn Israel for supposedly carrying out ‘genocide’ in Gaza in response to the Oct. 7 attacks. Multiple speakers called for the destruction of Israel – and, by implication, the Jewish people there – by demanding Palestinians take all the lands ‘from the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea.'”
CAIR actually has claimed in the past, without addressing actual allegations, that it is “not a ‘front group for Hamas.'”
IMPORTANT NOTE TO WND READERS: Shortly after Hamas terrorists fired over 5,000 rockets from Gaza into Israel on Oct. 7 and then proceeded to attack the Jewish state by land, sea and air – torturing, burning, beheading and murdering well over a thousand people, including women, children and infants, and wounding and abducting hundreds more – world reaction was, in its own way, almost equally shocking.
For after the biggest one-day mass slaughter of Jews since the Nazi Holocaust, what followed was an outpouring of celebratory demonstrations, unbridled Jew-hatred, deliriously gleeful support for Hamas and bitter condemnation of the nation of Israel. Not just in the Arab-Muslim world, but throughout the Western world as well, including all across America.
Why? What is behind the explosion of anti-Israel, anti-Jewish, pro-terror sentiment in the United States, where Israel has long been one of America’s closest friends and allies? Why are hordes of young “woke” LGBT demonstrators marching in support of Hamas – when Hamas wouldn’t think twice about binding and blindfolding them and throwing them off the roof of a tall building – as they routinely do in the Muslim world?
It turns out there’s one area of agreement that is so powerful, deep-seated and all-consuming that the vast differences between the deranged left and the murderous jihadists melt away into Kumbaya harmony.
