The Maine Superior Court has ordered that President Donald Trump’s name be restored to the 2024 primary ballot, reversing an earlier decision by Secretary of State Shella Bellows, a Democrat and, according to a commentary at The Gateway Pundit, a “psychotic,” who ordered it removed.
Bellows claimed, without a court hearing, without evidence, without any due process, that Trump was an “insurrectionist” for his comments on Jan. 6, 2021, when a few hundred people rioted at the U.S. Capitol, and therefore banned.
In fact, no criminal case charging insurrection ever has been created against Trump, and when Democrats in Congress made such an allegation he was acquitted in the Senate.
The Colorado Supreme Court also earlier ordered Trump’s name off that state’s ballot, but it is back now because the U.S. Supreme Court is considering the issue.
CBS News reported a Maine Superior Court cleared the way for Trump’s name on the ballot.
The report said Justice Michaela Murphy determined Bellows’ decision must remain on hold pending the Supreme Court’s coming decision.
Murphy noted her state’s primary is in March and ordered, “unless the Supreme Court before that date finds President Trump disqualified to hold the office of president, eligible Maine voters who wish to cast their vote for him in the primary will be able to do so, with the winner being determined by ranked-choice voting.”
The judge said Maine law lets her send the fight back to Bellows with orders to issue a new ruling later.
“Put simply, the United States Supreme Court’s acceptance of the Colorado case changes everything about the order in which these issues should be decided, and by which court,” the judge said. “And while it is impossible to know what the Supreme Court will decide, hopefully it will at least clarify what role, if any, state decision-makers, including secretaries of state and state judicial officers, play in adjudicating claims of disqualification brought under Section Three of the 14th Amendment.”
Trump had asked the court for a review after Bellows’ arbitrary ruling.
The claim is that the 14th Amendment, which experts say does not apply to presidents, bans Trump from holding office because he’s an “insurrectionist.”
The campaign, which is ongoing in multiple states, is part of Democrats’ “lawfare” against Trump, trying to make sure their candidate, Joe Biden, is not defeated by Trump in 2024.
If Trump is not on the ballot, they would not have that worry.
Dozens of other judges and state officials have rejected those lawfare claims against Trump.
Trump’s lawyers had pointed out, “For the first time in our nation’s history, a secretary of state has taken it upon herself to take away the choice of who should be a major party’s nominee for president of the United States from the people, based on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. This usurpation of the power of the people of Maine to choose their own political leaders is contrary to both state and federal law, including the Constitution of the United States.”
The Pundit commentary, besides describing Bellows as “psychotic,” pointed out, “Trump has not been charged with engaging in insurrection or rebellion against the United States.”

It’s irrelevant that the events didn’t come remotely close to constituting an actual “insurrection,” or that both police and over 200 undercover FBI assets provoked the riot – which Tucker Carlson calls a “set-up.” Yet Vice President Kamala Harris still insists the minor riot was just as horrific as the 9/11 terror attacks and Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.
WHY are the elites doing this?
It’s not just because convicting, imprisoning, torturing and destroying the lives of hundreds of Trump supporters is meant to terrify and intimidate millions of Americans into submission. And it’s not just because activist judges and bureaucrats in over 30 states are absurdly trying to keep Trump off their state’s election ballots by citing the 14th Amendment’s prohibition against anyone who “engaged in insurrection” from holding elective office.
It’s because the elites’ destruction of America is so rapid, horrendous and obvious that they feel compelled to turn their opponents into monsters – or lose power at the next election. But that doesn’t mean just calling conservatives and Christians “racists,” “white supremacists,” “radical extremists” and “domestic terrorists” as they do continually. They know much more is needed.
Question: What if, far from being horrified by a half-baked riot they absurdly claim is worse than any domestic disturbance since the Civil War, the left actually LOVES the idea of violence on the right – the worse the better – since it perfectly serves their agenda?
