I have a dream Sound off on the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The murder of Trayvon Martin and the freeing of his killer show nothing has changed The fight for immigrant rights and equality for LGBT people is the continuation of his work There's still more to be done to accomplish justice for all His dream was fulfilled when America elected its first black president The outrageous incarceration rate of black men says either America is still racist or King's moral impact on blacks was minimal Any attempt to accurately describe his legacy will fail because he died before he could finish his work America is an infinitely safer and more welcoming place for racial minorities in 2013 than it was in 1963 The black civil rights leaders who have taken his place over the years are dwarfed by his stature King's Christian roots would make him an outcast among today's civil rights activists The damage to the black family over the past 50 years, caused by welfare dependency and a degenerate culture, has eroded King's contributions Black teens' embrace of thug and gangsta culture and mob violence is a repudiation of King's ethic of non-violence He was a great man who accomplished much, but his memory has been hijacked by those whose status depends on perpetuating racial division Other View Results Loading ...
