It takes a thief Sound off on Obama plan to turn over ancient Torahs to Iraq These artifacts are part of the cultural heritage of Iraq and they belong there The U.S. made an agreement to return them to Iraq -- keeping them or giving them to Israel would be theft Who gets them in the end is a matter for Iraqi courts to decide -- the U.S. doesn't have jurisdiction If Obama gives them to Israel it will be a slap in the face of the Arab world Obama's in no position to lecture anyone about confiscating other people's property Governments seize things from their citizens all the time -- it's not our job to sort that out So, is the U.S. going to return all the artifacts in its museums to the countries of origin? There must be some artifact in the Israel Museum that could be traded for these Torahs If Obama does not give them to Israel it will be further evidence he's pro-Muslim They are the spoils of war -- the U.S. is free to seize them and give them to Israel You don't return someone's stolen property to the thief who stole it -- that would be wrong The Iraqi property the U.S. holds in trust turns out to have been stolen -- surrender it to the World Court for adjudication There are virtually no Jews left in Iraq, and these Torahs have no meaning to the Iraqis -- give them to Israel Give them to Israel -- tell Baghdad to subtract the value from what they owe the U.S. Other View Results Loading ...
