Naysayers opposed to President Donald Trump’s military actions in “Operation Epic Fury,” intended to make sure the rogue Islamic regime in Iran cannot threaten its neighbors, indeed the rest of the world, with nuclear annihilation, often have worried it would lead to a third world war.
That has not developed in the two months it has been going on, but now a report has confirmed that Russia is involved, at least nominally.
“There’s no question that Vladimir Putin’s Russia is taking serious action to undermine our efforts for success in Iran,” Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., has confirmed.
It was Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who told the Senate Armed Services Committee of Putin’s presence in the dispute.
Wicker, chairman, commented, after Caine declined to go into details at a public hearing after stating, “There’s definitely some action there,” that, “Xi Jinping leads not only China, but also an axis of aggressors. This growing alliance cannot be denied. It includes China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.”
According to a report from Fox News, Wicker said, “These four dictatorships support each other’s aggressive endeavors. They prop each other up financially, and they scheme to undermine America’s objectives.”
The report followed by only a day or so confirmation that Trump and Putin had talked about the war in Iran.
Reports revealed Putin welcomed Trump’s extension of a ceasefire there, and fretted that a U.S. ground operation there would be dangerous.
Sources say that the Kremlin has provided support to Iran, even though remaining mostly on the sideline diplomatically.
Putin and Trump have spoken, too, about ending the war in Ukraine, which Russia invaded during Joe Biden’s time in the White House.
Further, only days before that, Iran’s foreign minister was reported to be meeting with Putin, even as the talks between U.S. and Iran at that time, which have been on and off over weeks, hit a bump.
Various reports reveal Abbas Araghchi went to Moscow for talks with Putin.
Trump has pointed out that if Iran’s leaders want an end to the conflict, all they have to do is call him.
