WATCH: Keith Ellison sues Texas governor to force extradition of ICE agent

Keith Ellison, Minnesota’s far-left attorney general, long has fought federal efforts to crack down on illegal aliens.

During federal enforcement action in the state’s Somali immigrant community early this year he repeatedly made veiled, and some not-so-veiled, threats against federal officers.

The hate directed at that federal enforcement boiled over, resulting in the deaths of two Minneapolis area residents who apparently were interfering with federal agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

And an least one illegal alien was injured, where ICE agent Christian Castro ended up being accused by Minnesota officials of firing a gun at the front door of a home where one bullet struck a teen victim in the leg.

Officials in Minnesota, also the site of what’s alleged to be billions of dollars in social services fraud in that same Somali immigrant community, want to put him on trial for assault and false reporting.

But as the agent was arrested in Texas, and authorities there have declined Minnesota demands he be sent back, the case is at a standstill.

So Ellison’s latest move is to sue Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott.

A report at the Washington Examiner said it was Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis who was injured during the federal government’s Operation Metro Surge.

Ellison now is ordering Abbott to sign an extradition warrant moving Castro from Texas to Minnesota.

Castro allegedly shot Sosa-Celis in the thigh while pursuing another man, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna, both of whom were in the U.S. illegally.

Federal authorities had accused Sosa-Celis and Aljorna of assault on an ICE officer, but those charges later were dropped.

Ellison insists, “(Castro) must face justice in Minnesota. Gov. Abbott should have granted Gov. Walz’s extradition request long ago and is required to do so now.”

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, described in one report as being sponsored by “Soros,” filed charges even as Fox News reporter Bill Melugin said ICE agents shot a shovel-wielding Venezuelan after he tried to assault federal law enforcement officers.

It was the Gateway Pundit that described Moriarty as “Soros-funded.”
