A popular Catholic cardinal, Raymond Leo Burke, whose adherence to Catholic church traditions is well-known, has delivered a stunning verdict on today’s society. And its morality.
He says it is not much different than Sodom and Gomorrah, cities recorded in the Bible has having been totally destroyed when fire and brimstone rained down on them.
Those biblical cities are forever linked to sexual sin, including homosexuality, and the contemporary word “sodomy” even derives from the city’s name.
Burke explained, “God looked upon man and the way he was living, and he was doing everything but what God wanted. The Scriptures say that it made God sorry that he had made man. Because man has free will, he can go away from God. And at that time, clearly people were living and doing very immoral things.”

He continued, “Are you seeing similarities today, as they did in Sodom and Gomorrah as well? Yes. The days of Noah. Yes. It’s very clear to me that in this rebellion that has set into society, in our day it is represented by the idea that I am the author of my own being. In all kinds of ways, evil is exalted as good, and evil actions of men are exalted as good, in defiance of God’s law.”
Cardinal Raymond Burke warns that modern sexual immorality echoes the moral decline described in Sodom and Gomorrah.
He calls Christians to remain faithful to God, embrace repentance and pursue holiness amid growing moral challenges.

Burke, an American Catholic cardinal is known for his defense of tradition, as well as his expertise in church law.
He became a priest in 1975 and a bishop in 1995. He was elevated to cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.
A report at Lifesitenews said Burke’s comments “compared the sinfulness of the current age to the biblical times of Sodom and Gomorrah.”
It was on the Shawn Ryan show here he warned “there are distinct similarities between the sexual perversion of today and Abraham’s age.”

“People there began to live in a godless way and especially there was homosexual activity,” the cardinal said. “There was unnatural attraction of even the same sex, and they would even abuse people who would be passing through and offer them hospitality with the intention to abuse them sexually, to have unnatural relations with them.”
The Bible records how God told Abraham to leave Sodom and Gomorrah with Lot, so they fled.
Burke said “marriage” between two people of the same sex is a “heresy not only against the faith but against reason itself.”
“The evil action of men was exulted as good in defiance of God’s law. A good example is atheistic materialism or communism — to deny the law of God by enslaving people to an ideology which is contrary to the Christian faith. But we see it too in the homosexual agenda.”
