There is “explosive” information coming soon about Anthony Fauci and the gain-of-function work in which the U.S. may have been involved.
Fauci was Joe Biden’s top adviser regarding the China virus, COVID-19, that swept around the world and killed millions several years ago.
One of the things uncovered at that time was the nation’s apparent involvement in such gain-of-function research being done at the Wuhan, China, lab from which COVID-19 apparently escaped.
Such projects look for ways to make existing viruses and such worse, or more threatening, or more contagious, with the justification that scientists then can research how to stop them.
Sen Rand Paul, R-Ky., now has announced, “We will have some more explosive information that comes out in the next week, though, that some of the communications between Anthony Fauci and his assistant involved some programs that are very worrisome, gain-of-function programs that we didn’t know existed until we came across these emails.”
He said, “It is our belief that most of the gain-of-function research that’s going on, and probably still goes on, is classified and done in the bioweapons or biodefense category, but they won’t tell us.”
His comments were reported by Just the News and came only a day after Democrats in Congress torpedoed a plan by the senator to obtain evidence from one of Fauci’s associates by offering immunity in exchange for testimony.
Fauci, until recently the chief of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases and one of the highest-paid federal employes, allegedly allowed government funding for outside institutes that were involved in gain-of-function research, even though he denied that.
Paul said there’s now more evidence of government-document destruction and such.
Those details reportedly are in communications on Fauci’s phone, computer and diary, and that’s why he sought congressional approval for the immunity for testimony plan.
Democrats on the committee refused to allow that, however.
Paul recently summoned Fauci to testify before his committee, but the retired bureaucrat refused to answer most questions by invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
Fauci now has been referred to the Justice Department for possible prosecution for contempt of Congress. As Fauci was granted a pardon by President Biden in the waning days of his term, constitutional experts insist that Fauci does not have the right to invoke the Fifth Amendment.
Paul explained, “By looking at Anthony Fauci’s logs that he was keeping on a government computer, we discovered that his assistant was bragging to him in one of the emails. ‘Hey, Dr. Fauci, I was able to destroy tons of your emails this weekend.’ Well, that’s illegal.”
The associate, Paul said, pleaded the Fifth Amendment during a congressional interview.
“It was never our intention really to try to have her indicted. We wanted to know who gave her the orders,” he said. “We presume Anthony Fauci. How many years she’d been doing this? Whether it was hundreds or thousands of emails? What kind of topics? And so, really, we’re more interested in the guy who gave the orders because I think that’s where most of the culpability is. And so, we wanted to offer her immunity.”
He said a deal still may be possible for that testimony.
“Within a week or two, if we don’t get that cooperation, what’s going to happen is she will be referred to the Department of Justice, and see, they don’t have to vote at the Department of Justice. They don’t have to vote on indicting someone. They have to say they broke the law, and they don’t have to vote on offering someone immunity.”
Fauci has denied wrongdoing, insisting Republican allegations that he withheld certain truths about COVID’s origin or kept colleagues from talking about it were false smears.
Earlier, Democrats blocked that resolution that would have offered immunity to the unnamed associate in return for testimony.
Paul described the fact witness as an aide to Fauci from 2007 to the day he left the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in 2022. He also described her as an aide “in the flow of communications” in the frenzied early days of the pandemic, as Fauci worked with then-Wellcome Trust Director Jeremy Farrar to produce an influential scientific paper dismissing a possible lab origin of the COVID-19 virus.
That’s now presumed by experts to be a leak from the Wuhan lab.
