U.S. Sen. Darline Graham, the South Carolina Republican who was appointed to the U.S. Senate after the death of longtim Sen. Lindsey Graham, her brother, has lost her bid to stay in the Congress’ upper body.

Democrat Annie Andrews, with 51% of the vote, has defeated Graham in a hotly contested race, flipping a Senate seat from red to blue. President Trump had endorsed Graham in both the primary and general election.

Commentators election night pointed to Graham’s inexperience in politics and the verbal stumbles she took during the campaign.

“Absolutely jaw-dropping,” remarked Eric Daughtery on X.

Daughtery also pointed out that one county in South Carolina Trump won two years ago by 17 points went for Graham by just 6 points.
